STAR WARS: EPISODE VII director J.J. Abrams recently discussed the upcoming film at the Produced By conference. It seems the film is still on track to begin shooting early in 2014.
“We are, most likely, if all goes as planned, going to be moving to London at the end of the year for the STAR WARS movie.”
When asked about whether the film would be new material or based on the Expanded Universe material of novels, comics, video games, etc., Abrams declined to comment, but did say:
“I think the key to moving forward on something like this is honoring but not revering what came before.”
My two cents? It seems like they’ll take a Clone Wars approach to the material: take what works for their story, ignore the rest. I guess we’ll find out in 2015.
