I can’t fully speak to the quality of Mr. Arndt’s screenwriting capabilities, having not seen Little Miss Sunshine (which won him the Oscar), but I dug Toy Story 3, which is generally accepted as one of Pixar’s finer efforts. So I’m going to go out on a limb and say that if he won an Oscar for the one other flick he’s written that’s actually come out (the others are either in post-production or development), then I’m all for him taking a shot at it. At any rate, that Lucasfilm sought a heavy-hitter like him out to pen the 40-50 page treatment of the Sequel Trilogy shows that they mean business. It’ll be interesting to see who they lure in to direct. And after reading some reviews of Lincoln, I’m kind of interested to see what Spielberg would do with Star Wars and whether or not he’s still got some of the magic from his late 70s/early 80s days.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some more Angry Birds Star Wars to play.
