With the recent announcement of its imminent closure, all final dates for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser have now sold out.
The end is almost in sight for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, with Disney recently announcing that the luxury hotel would be forced to close after just 18 months. Located at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, the immersive experience has been criticised for its prohibitively expensive price, with a two-day package costing on average $2,400 per night per person.
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser opened on March 1, 2022 and offered fans a unique stay at the resort, which included lightsaber training, food and drink and the chance to participate in missions with the Resistance and the First Order. Although some Star Wars fans were enamoured with the original experience, and the hotel won a coveted Thea Award for outstanding achievement in a themed entertainment space, the high cost of a stay ultimately kept many away.
The final dates for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser have now sold out, with the hotel due to close its doors for good on September 30. The Wrap recently reported that Disney was brainstorming ideas for redesigning the experience and basing it around The Mandalorian, but that option was ultimately rejected.
Disney said in a statement concerning the closure: “Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of our most creative projects ever and has been praised by our guests and recognized for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment.
“This premium, boutique experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and as we prepare for its final voyage, we will take what we’ve learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our guests and fans.”
