The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau has warned fans not to expect a Skeleton Crew reference in the third season of the show.
In a new profile interview with Variety in celebration of Favreau’s upcoming star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Star Wars producer discussed a number of topics, including the upcoming season of The Mandalorian. Building on topics already touched on in other interviews, Favreau adjusted audience expectations ahead of the third season.
While The Mandalorian re-introduced fans to characters like Ahsoka Tano and Boba Fett, who have gone on to have their own shows, we shouldn’t expect Season 3 to introduce us to characters from Skeleton Crew. This comes despite the fact that Favreau has previously confirmed that there will be tie-ins across the two titles.
“Each storyteller brings their own personality to it,” Favreau said. “The groups that are working on [Skeleton Crew] are led by Jon Watts, whom I collaborated with on all the Spider-Man movies. This has been a real fun time and the great filmmakers that he’s engaged with have been bringing their perspectives as well.”
What’s more, Favreau also dampened hopes for a The Mandalorian movie – although. not shutting the door forever.
“There’s always an opportunity when you have a set of characters and stories that people connect with that you could cross media into different areas,” he said. “Marvel does it quite effectively. It’s just a matter of where our time should be spent and what the appetite of the audience is.
“With all these stories we’re telling, it definitely is a full-time job just keeping this going with what we’re doing now. Television has a much different rhythm and schedule than film does.”
