Early reviews state that Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Enhanced Edition is ‘a memorable Star Wars game in its own right’, rather than purely a showcase of VR features.

IGN has had an early look at the Enhanced Edition, due for release in a few short days, and has shared its thoughts in a detailed review. The update to the virtual reality first-person shooter created by ILMxLab showcases the enhanced capabilities of the new PlayStation VR2 headset, but also adds to the story in an impressive way.

“Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge Enhanced Edition is an excellent way to showcase the best features of a fancy new PlayStation VR2 headset to friends and family, but thanks to the expanded content it’s also a worthy shooter and a memorable Star Wars game in its own right,” reads the review.

While it seems that some of the early content and quests might be repetitive if you already played the first iteration of the game, there’s enough new content later on to engage any Star Wars gamer.

Focusing on the lives of people at the edge of the galaxy (as the name would suggest), there’s minimal time spent as a Jedi (although not none). Instead, players are expected to blast their way through obstacles and work with creatures and beings from a number of different species and planets.

Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Enhanced will be available as a launch day PS VR2 digital release on February 22, whilst a physical version of the game will arrive on April 7 via Perp Games (the same day as Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023). The game can be pre-ordered right now for £39.99/$49.99.
