With Star Wars Jedi: Survivor less than a month away, first impressions of the video game make game it sound like a very satisfying sequel indeed.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be releasing on April 28, with the highly-anticipated video game having been pushed back six weeks from its original release date for some last-minute finetuning. A direct sequel to Fallen Order, the epic sequel continues the adventures of Cal Kestis and BD-1 as they take on an emerging Empire and attempt to find their place in the galaxy.

Created once again by developer Respawn and published by Electronic Arts, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor looks set to offer players the chance to explore sprawling open world environments, battle fierce enemies by utilising new Force powers and encounter impressive friends and foes alike.

Ahead of the game’s upcoming launch, select media outlets have had exclusive hands-on time with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and offered their first impressions of the sequel. Over on Twitter, EckhartsLadder reports that the follow-up builds on what worked well in the first game, but makes it much better. “Combat sees the smallest changes, which may disappoint some,” reports EckhartsLadder, “but the open world and structure of Survivor is significantly improved.”

Over on Kotaku‘s Twitter account, lucky Lucas White spent four hours with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, revealing he was extremely satisfied with the game and wanted more time with it. “I felt a kickstarted enthusiasm for the final release and disappointment I couldn’t keep playing after I left the building.”

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be launching on April 28 on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and PC platforms, with pre-orders for various digital and physical versions of the game now live on the official landing page.
