Billie Lourd, daughter of the legendary Carrie Fisher, followed her mother’s footsteps into the Star Wars universe. Lourd played the character Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix: A New Generation’s Rebel
Lourd’s character, Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix, is a Resistance officer first introduced in “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” (2015). Connix’s role expands in the subsequent films. In “Episode VIII – The Last Jedi” (2017), she is seen taking on more responsibilities and is actively involved in the Resistance’s strategies and operations.
In “Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker” (2019), Connix’s role further expands, reflecting Lourd’s real-life increased involvement with the Star Wars franchise following her mother’s passing.
A Special Tribute
In “The Rise of Skywalker”, Lourd also stood in for her mother during a flashback sequence. The sequence, which uses digital technology to depict a younger Leia Organa, required someone to perform the physical part of the role. Lourd stepped in, providing an emotional tribute to her mother.
Our Thoughts
Following in the footsteps of her mother, Carrie Fisher, Billie Lourd’s portrayal of Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix continues the family legacy within the Star Wars franchise. Her character represents a new generation of leaders in the Resistance, much like her mother’s character, Leia Organa, did for the Rebellion. By embodying a younger Leia for a poignant scene in “The Rise of Skywalker”, Lourd also offered fans a heartfelt connection to the enduring legacy of her mother’s iconic character.
