Ahsoka Tano, the former Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, is a memorable character from the Star Wars universe, known not just for her dynamic personality but also her unique choice of weaponry. Unlike most Jedi, Ahsoka is known for wielding two lightsabers, a primary one and a smaller, shoto-style one. This article will delve into the timeline of when Ahsoka obtained her second lightsaber.
Ahsoka’s First Lightsaber
Ahsoka first received her single green-bladed lightsaber upon becoming Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan during the Clone Wars. She used this weapon throughout her early adventures, proving herself an able fighter and resourceful ally in the battles against the Separatist forces.
Introduction of the Second Lightsaber
Ahsoka added a second, shorter lightsaber to her arsenal during the third year of the Clone Wars, which corresponds to the third season of the animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” This shorter weapon is called a shoto, and it has a yellow-green blade. She utilized a form of lightsaber combat known as Jar’Kai, which made use of dual blades.

Ahsoka later fashioned herself a new pair of lightsabers with white blades, as seen in “Star Wars Rebels.” She acquired these kyber crystals from an Inquisitor’s red-bladed lightsaber she had defeated. Using the Force, she purified the corrupted kyber crystals, causing them to turn white. These white lightsabers symbolize her neutrality, signifying that she is no longer a Jedi, but still a defender of the light and the innocent.
