Kanan Jarrus is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, and one of the main protagonists in the animated series Star Wars Rebels. He is a former Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66 and the destruction of the Jedi Order, and later became a rebel leader and mentor to the crew of the Ghost.

Background and History
Kanan Jarrus, born Caleb Dume, was a Padawan learner under the Jedi Knight Depa Billaba during the final years of the Galactic Republic. When Order 66 was issued by Chancellor Palpatine, Billaba was killed by her own clone troopers, while Jarrus managed to escape and went into hiding, cutting himself off from the Force and changing his name to Kanan Jarrus.
For years, Kanan lived in secrecy, taking on various jobs such as smuggling and bounty hunting to survive. It wasn’t until he met Hera Syndulla and became part of the crew of the Ghost that he began to rediscover his Jedi roots and embrace his role as a mentor and leader to the younger members of the team.
Abilities and Skills
As a former Jedi Padawan, Kanan is highly skilled in lightsaber combat and Force abilities. He is proficient in the use of a blaster as well, and often combines his lightsaber with his blaster to great effect.
