Marvel Comics has announced a new crossover event across its four ongoing Star Wars series – but not in the way that commenters think.

In a post released across Instagram and Twitter, Marvel teased that this summer will see the storylines from Star Wars, Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, Star Wars: Darth Vader, and Star Wars: Bounty Hunters converge. It seems that characters from them all will need to team up to defeat a new threat in the galaxy far, far away.

“First, it comes for the metal…” reads the graphic of the post, while the caption states: “A new crossover comes to Marvel’s @StarWars comics with a threat no one will see coming…”

While the imagery highlights that this will be a crossover between four Star Wars comic series, some fans who don’t know that Marvel Comics is responsible for printing and publishing Star Wars comics were at first confused, believing this hinted at a Marvel/Star Wars event.

“Vader x Doom working together? Or Vader pulling up to Wakanda for that vibranium?” asked one Instagram user, while another wrote: “Years of Disney owning Lucasfilm and Marvel that they’re finally officially crossing over.”

No matter whether you would be for or against such a crossover, it’s not on the way anytime soon. As far as we can tell, this post only refers to the Star Wars comics tying into one another, without any input from Marvel Comic storylines. Still – we can always dream!
