Clone Force 99 faces off against a formidable creature from the past in the latest episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2.
Following last week’s conclusion of a two-part story, Clone Force 99 is back in action, with a tense new instalment of Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2. Episode 11, ‘Metamorphosis,’ finds the elite squad attempting to salvage precious cargo from a crashed freighter, only to encounter a nightmare creature straight out of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
After making it off a desolate mining planet with the Marauder, the team receives a call from smuggler Cid regarding a potentially lucrative new job. Racing against time to recover the contents of a downed ship, Clone Force 99 soon discovers it’s not alone and that a terrifying creature has escaped and eaten the crew.
Their situation doesn’t improve much when the clones realise the alien consumes energy, growing with each and every meal. Escaping from the freighter, the creature heads for a nearby town’s power gird to feast again and evolves into a mini Zillo Beast, straight out of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 2. It seems that then-Chancellor Palpatine has been continuing his experiments with the animal, utilising Kaminoan cloning techniques.
Attempting to halt the beast’s advance and defend the terrified villagers, Clone Force 99 has to beat a hasty retreat when attacking Imperial forces arrive on the scene. Viewers are also treated to a visit to Mount Tantiss, a secret facility where the Empire is keeping Lama Su and attempting to coerce the Kaminoan into helping them with their mysterious experiments on the Zillo Beast.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 continues weekly on Disney+, with episode 12, ‘The Outpost,’ dropping on March 8, 2023.
