Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 reaches its conclusion, with a two-episode finale that could mean the end of Clone Force 99.

The last two episodes of Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 have dropped this week, with ‘The Summit’ and ‘Plan 99’ drawing the curtain on the latest adventures of the elite squad. With plenty of action, thrills and heart-stopping moments, fans can expect this season to forever change Clone Force 99. (Spoilers ahead)

It’s now apparent that Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 is essentially The Empire Strikes Back of the hit animated show, with our heroes thrown into more danger, political intrigue and galaxy-altering events than ever before. Episode 15, ‘The Summit,’ sees the team heading to Tarkin’s compound on Eriadu, where a gathering of Imperials is set to include the sinister Dr Hemlock.

Leaving the brief peace of Pabu, Clone Force 99 manages to sneak past a number of Imperial ships and land safely on Eriadu. The only way in and out of the heavily-fortified compound appears to be via cable car, requiring the team to stealthily slip into the base undetected. Once inside, the squad splits up to place a homing beacon on Hemlock’s shuttle and attempts to download data regarding Crosshair’s location.

Discovering the base is in fact boobytrapped, Clone Force 99 is surprised to discover Saw Gerrera and a team of insurgents are also on a mission against the Empire. Narrowly escaping Imperial forces and a massive explosion, the team attempts to flee the compound via the same cable car system, only to be trapped part way – a literal cliffhanger.

The action continues in ‘Plan 99’, with the team pinned down by Stormtrooper fire and enemy ships attacking from above. Whilst trying to restart power to the cable car, Tech is cut off from the rest of the group and ultimately realises he has to sacrifice his life to save his comrades. This will no doubt prove to be a huge shock for fans of the character and is likely to have serious repercussions for Clone Force 99 further down the line.

Barely making it off Eriadu in one piece, what’s left of the squad returns to Ord Mantell to recuperate, only to be betrayed by smuggler Cid. With the arrival of Imperial forces on the world, Hunter and Wrecker are captured by Hemlock’s troops, but the scheming doctor is more concerned with finding Omega.

The young clone is eventually captured, but Echo arrives in time to save his two fellow clones. Racing to Hemlock’s shuttle, the team arrives too late to rescue Omega and is forced to watch the ship depart to an unknown destination. The episode concludes back at the mysterious Mount Tantiss, as the young clone is reunited with the Kaminoan Nala Se, discovers a comatose Crosshair and makes a shocking discovery regarding the identity of Dr Emerie Karr.

The full Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 is now available for subscribers to watch on Disney+. There’s currently no word on when or if Season 3 of the show will be arriving on the streaming platform.
