Despite appearing in one himself, Liam Neeson has criticised the proliferation of spin-offs in the Star Wars franchise.

There’s no denying that the number of Star Wars spin-offs has increased since Disney acquired the rights, with the ever-expanding Mandoverse adding more and more characters and shows to its roster.

However, some actors from the franchise seem far from enamored with this change. When asked in an interview with Andy Cohen for Watch What Happens Live if he was interested in doing his own spin-off series on Disney+, Neeson replied: “No I’m not. There’s so many spin-offs of Star Wars. It’s diluting it to me, and it’s taken away the mystery and the magic in a weird way.”

This comes just a few months after Neeson’s appearance in one of said spin-offs, reprising his role as Qui-Gon Jinn in Kenobi. Despite his feelings about spin-offs in general, the actor was pleased to return to the world of Star Wars.

“It was nice to do a little bit with Ewan after 25 years, 24 years,” Neeson said later in the same interview. “I certainly didn’t want anyone else playing Qui-Gon Jinn, and I wanted to show my respect for George [Lucas] and that mythical world that he created.”

However, Neeson also made it clear that ‘that’s it’ when it comes to him returning as Qui-Gon, as he has previously reiterated.
