Star Wars shelves Feige and Jenkins film projects

The future isn’t looking overly bright when it comes to prospective Star Wars movies.

There hasn’t been a Star Wars film since the fateful sequel trilogy that went down poorly with fans. While this isn’t necessarily something new for the franchise, with widespread dislike for the prequels for many years, it seems to have stifled the development of other films.

There have been whispers of a Damon Lindelof film in the works, as well as three further titles attached to Marvel’s Kevin Feige, Wonder Woman’s Patty Jenkins, and Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi. However, Variety is now reporting that two of those three titles have now been shelved before they ever truly began, leaving only Waititi’s standing.

The news around any of these projects is based in rumour, with conflicting reports coming as late as December that Jenkins was in fact still working on her film, titled Rogue Sqaudron. It seems to be widely accepted that Kevin Feige will be kept too busy by the ever-expanding MCU, however.

However, we will hopefully get some form of confirmation in one direction or another at the Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, when an announcement is expected to be made on the cinematic future of Star Wars. For now, we’ll have to content ourselves with new episodes of The Mandalorian, as Star Wars continues its flurry of TV shows.
