Disney will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this year with the release of new 4K Blu-ray Steelbooks of the Star Wars Original Trilogy films.

2023 is a major milestone for Disney, with the House of the Mouse celebrating its 100th anniversary in style. The company will be marking the occasion with a number of special events and branded products being released over the next 12 months.

Included in those anniversary items are new Star Wars 4K Blu-ray Disney 100 Steelbooks of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, which are currently listed on US retailer Best Buy’s website. Each movie is packaged in a sturdy metal case, complete with embossed Disney 100 branding, Star Wars logo and saga-specific image on the front, plus Rebel Alliance, Jedi Order and Galactic Empire symbols on the back.

Each 4K Blu-ray Steelbook set opens up to reveal three discs per movie, one 4K disc, one Blu-ray and a bonus Blu-ray disc of extras. The interiors of the Steelbooks also feature a stunning image from each of the Original Trilogy films to round off the anniversary releases. There’s no word yet on whether the 4K Blu-ray Steelbooks will include any new bonus material, or whether they’re simply repackaged versions of the existing sets.

The Star Wars Original Trilogy 4K Blu-ray Disney 100 Steelbooks can be pre-ordered now from Best Buy, are priced at $29.99 and will be released on May 5, 2023. It’s likely the films will appear on other retailer’s sites over the coming weeks, so we’ll keep you posted as soon as we have more information.
